LinkedIn has officially announced it is rolling out its own Reaction Buttons, giving users more ways to express themselves.
“One of the things we regularly hear from all of you is that you want more expressive ways than a “Like” to respond to the variety posts you see in your feed. At the same time, you’ve also told us that when you post on LinkedIn, you want more ways to feel heard and understand why someone liked what you said.
That’s why today we’re starting to roll out a set of Reactions on LinkedIn, giving you more ways to quickly and constructively communicate with one another.” (LinkedIn)
LinkedIn Reaction Buttons include:
In addition to liking something posted in your feed you can now “Celebrate” to praise an accomplishment or milestone (i.e. a new job or a work anniversary.) “Love” can be used to express deep feelings for something or to express support. “Insightful” is used to recognize an interesting idea or good information. “Curious” lets users show the desire to learn more about the topic posted.
“We took a thoughtful approach to designing these reactions, centered around understanding which ones would be most valuable to the types of conversations members have on LinkedIn.” (LinkedIn)
LinkedIn looked at what people were already talking about to better u understand the feedback they wanted to express. They analyzed the top 1 to 2-word comments people used on the site and the types of posts people were sharing most. This provided them with the information they needed to formulate the Reactions. As of April 11, 2019, the Reaction Buttons have started to roll out and will be available to all members in the next few months.
