Oracle Data Cloud (ODC) analyzed new vehicle registration data and found Pinterest users were 28% more likely than non-Pinterest users to buy a new vehicle within the first 90 days of its release.

Additionally, Pinners were 31% more likely to buy a new SUV model after its release.

  1. 35 million unique visitors, on average, visit the site monthly.
  2. Over 184 million reviews were written on yelp (by the end of Q1 2019.)

How consumers find reviews on Yelp:

  • 75% use the Search feature.
  • 21% look up the business directly.
  • 1% link to reviews through email.
  • 94% find reviews via Social Media (46% of these people find the links on Facebook.)
  • 03% find business reviews via display advertising.

Facebook Watch is the video-on-demand service operated by Facebook.  Launched in August 2017 it provides original video content that is produced for the company by partners.

In June 2018, Facebook launched six news programs from partners including BuzzFeed, Vox, CNN, and Fox News.  In addition to original programming, Facebook Watch also distributes content licensed from other companies. On November 30, 2018, it was announced that the streaming service had struck a deal with 20th Century Fox Television to stream television series Buffy the Vampire SlayerAngel, and Firefly. read more

On August 19, 2019 Facebook will be changing the text and aspect ratios on its Mobile News Feed.  This will compress the News Feed ads to “match the look and feel of the new Facebook design introduced earlier this year.”

Facebook announced the new F5 design for the Facebook App at F8, the annual conference about future technology that Facebook holds every year.

The F5 design is “simpler, faster and more immersive, putting your communities at the center.”  Overall, it makes it easier for users to find most-used features. read more

There’s been a lot of news about the mining of our personal data by companies (and countries) to use for advertising purposes or other nefarious reasons.

Most Social Media users are shocked to see ads for items they were viewing on the Internet or ads for things they were searching for on Google, even pleas from companies where carts were abandoned to complete the purchase.

While some of these ads can be attributed to a tracking code that websites have to find their visitors on Facebook, etc. there are other ways companies (and governments) get our personal data.  There are also some serious tricks hackers use to obtain more personal information to generate our passwords or even more personal information.  There are also things Social Media users do that put their home and family in danger. read more

Facebook announced today, they are working to make advertising on the platform easier and more successful for all businesses.  Thus, they are updating their core business tools, Ads Manager and Business Manager.

The changes will rollout through the year “to help businesses quickly create, manage and analyze ad campaigns.” (Facebook)

Ads Manager Updates

  • New features within the Ads Manager will include:
  • Streamlined Navigation
  • Integrated Search Bar and Filter Bar
  • Nested Campaign View

The campaign creation tools will also be updated with a new copy and paste function that will offer more flexibility when creating and building ads.  There will also be an auto-naming feature that will make it quicker for businesses to customize campaigns, ad sets, and ad names. read more

LinkedIn has been doing a bit of renovation work on their Advertising Platform.  They are in the process of a bit of spring cleaning and refreshing the Ads for 2019.

Here are the four new features they have rolled out so far:

Lookalike Audiences

Facebook has been making a few changes to site of late.  Including a server configuration change that resulted in a wide shutdown of the platform in March.

In addition to this the platform has made some changes to their Ad services.

New Metrics

Facebook has announced it will be removing the Ad Relevance Score on April 30, 2019.  The Relevance Score gave advertisers insight into how well the ad may perform on the site and used this as a part of the process to define its reach.

The Ad Relevance Score will be replaced with three new “more actionable” metrics. read more
