Facebook is still the Social Networking Goliath, for most businesses it is the main platform used in a marketing strategy, and for good reason.

Here are a few updated stats to show that Facebook has not slowed down its effort to permeate our lives and some very good reasons to start using Facebook to market.

Facebook Watch is the video-on-demand service operated by Facebook.  Launched in August 2017 it provides original video content that is produced for the company by partners.

In June 2018, Facebook launched six news programs from partners including BuzzFeed, Vox, CNN, and Fox News.  In addition to original programming, Facebook Watch also distributes content licensed from other companies. On November 30, 2018, it was announced that the streaming service had struck a deal with 20th Century Fox Television to stream television series Buffy the Vampire SlayerAngel, and Firefly. read more

Facebook announced today, they are working to make advertising on the platform easier and more successful for all businesses.  Thus, they are updating their core business tools, Ads Manager and Business Manager.

The changes will rollout through the year “to help businesses quickly create, manage and analyze ad campaigns.” (Facebook)

Ads Manager Updates

  • New features within the Ads Manager will include:
  • Streamlined Navigation
  • Integrated Search Bar and Filter Bar
  • Nested Campaign View

The campaign creation tools will also be updated with a new copy and paste function that will offer more flexibility when creating and building ads.  There will also be an auto-naming feature that will make it quicker for businesses to customize campaigns, ad sets, and ad names. read more

Facebook has been making a few changes to site of late.  Including a server configuration change that resulted in a wide shutdown of the platform in March.

In addition to this the platform has made some changes to their Ad services.

New Metrics

Facebook has announced it will be removing the Ad Relevance Score on April 30, 2019.  The Relevance Score gave advertisers insight into how well the ad may perform on the site and used this as a part of the process to define its reach.

The Ad Relevance Score will be replaced with three new “more actionable” metrics. read more

Facebook offers Click-to-Messenger Ads, these ads allow people to click on the ad and immediately be taken to messenger, where a conversation can begin.

Conversations with these leads can include offering a promotion, personalized product advice, an event or fun opportunity.

Businesses can develop a more personal, and stronger, connection with customers and potential customers.  Customer experience is important.  Facebook Messenger also generates 15 times5 more engagement than standard Facebook Ads. read more

Facebook has announced a change to the News Feed and publishers, marketers, and businesses are concerned.

As explained in a blog post by Adam Mosseri, Head of News Feed in a Facebook Newsroom update, “Facebook was built to bring people closer together and build relationships” the News Feed will now focus on connecting users to more meaningful posts from friends and family.

This change may create some drastic changes in Business Page updates, causing a bit of a panic.

 The Update

Facebook will begin to prioritize updates that “spark conversations and meaningful interaction between people.”  The change will begin to predict which updates users would want to interact with and will show these updates higher in the users’ Feed. read more

Facebook Business Pages are not going anywhere any time soon.  I have been talking to business owners about Social Media, conducting seminars and providing full-service management of Facebook Business Pages for marketing and advertising services for nearly a decade.  During this time I heard many reasons for why businesses did not think they needed to bother with Facebook, including the thought that they were just a fad.

Facebook has been making some changes again, announcing a new update to their mobile advertising capabilities.

Back in June, the company introduced new ways for businesses to drive more foot traffic into their stores from their ads, additionally providing a way to determine the impact of their mobile advertising campaigns in relation to in store visits and in store sales.

These ad capabilities have shown over one million store visits per day in 100,000 locations.

In a Facebook post last week, the company announced even more new opportunities for businesses to run campaigns that achieve in-store results. read more

Google AdWords used to be the internet standard for advertising.  Hiring a firm to optimize your website so you would rank closer to, if not at, number 1 in search results.  Adding in AdWords gave you an additional edge.

However, Facebook has been upping the ante with their advertising campaigns.  Creating very desirable features for businesses to use in order to get their business in front of people.

Each of the sites change their algorithms frequently.  Google shifts their requirements to rank high and Facebook changes what shows first in their users’ News Feeds. read more
