Back in October 2015, Facebook began testing a new experience called Canvas.  This new feature provides a fast-loading, full-screen experience that allows a user to browse a variety of products on mobile before they are taken to the retailer’s website.  (See more on our blog.)

More people are spending more time on mobile, typically in just a few apps at a time, including Facebook.  Businesses advertising on Facebook found it challenging to provide “compelling brand and product stories on mobile in ways that are enjoyable for people and effective for their business.”  (Facebook for Business) read more

We have been working for two service companies for a while now.  One specializes in HVAC; the other offers both HVAC and plumbing services.  One is growing. The other is not doing as well and blames the fact that there is a lot of competition in his area.

Our involvement with each of these clients started when we designed their websites several years ago.  We registered each business on Local Google and used SEO best practices when we developed the sites. At first, both sites enjoyed Page 1 of Google results. read more

While Facebook Ads contribute to the overall sales conversion process, they, like all other advertising tactics, are not designed to “make a sale.”

Social Media Marketing is used to raise awareness of a business and to foster interaction. The goal is to get people interested enough to join the conversation.  Good posts can generate comments and shares, giving a business a larger and more interested audience. read more

As I sat on my patio early this morning, I realized that the weather was beginning to cool a bit. And my thoughts turned to boots. Since I always seem to have my phone in my hand, I did a quick Internet search.  I found a website, selling the perfect pair.  They are British “Wellies” and they are expensive.  I decided to check prices on eBay.

As I moved on with my day and the sun got warmer, I forgot all about my early morning foray into boots.  However, eBay and Amazon didn’t forget about me.  When I opened my Facebook page, there were the boots – not just once, but three times.  eBay showed them to me in my News Feed and in the right sidebar – imploring me to “buy now.”  Amazon (they must have been monitoring me and eBay) also invited me to buy the boots through their ad in the right sidebar.boots read more

Move over Like Button and make room for the Buy Button.

Facebook doesn’t just want you to socialize, share and discover new things, it wants to help you shop and buy what you need and want.

Facebook is currently testing shops within Facebook Pages.  These are “essentially mini e-commerce sites” (BuzzFeed News) within a Facebook Business Page.  While still in the testing phase there are some Business Pages that have the “buy” button.  This allows the “entire shopping experience to occur within Facebook – from product discovery to checkout.”  (BuzzFeed News) read more
