Several Statistics You Need to Know About Images in 2016

Several years ago, in the early stages of Social Media Marketing, we were hired by a local company to manage their Social Media Marketing Campaign.

As was typical at the time, the business manager knew Social Media was important for growth, but the owner was skeptical.

We got about 2 weeks into the month when they called us to say they wanted to cancel our services.  They didn’t see the value of paying us to “post stupid, silly photos.”

Over the next few years we have run into a few people who thought that Social Media updates were not a serious part of the marketing package and that the posting could be done by one of their employees or interns.

Unfortunately, what these businesses do not understand is that every update and all the content researched is strategically placed and is not just random posting of silly photos.  Those “stupid, silly photos” are an important piece of the strategy.

The fact is images are important.

“When people hear information, they’re likely to remember only 10% of that information three days later. However, if a relevant image is paired with that same information, people retained 65% of the information three days later.” (Lifelearn)

Research has also shown that colored visuals increase people’s willingness to read the content by 80% (Office.Xerox) and content with relevant images get 94% more views than content without relevant images. (Kissmetrics)

Images are important, whether they are funny, silly, stunning or cute using visuals will help your message get out even further.
