Facebook recently updated the Business Page format. There are a few exciting new features of the Page that can help boost your Page to the next level.
Photo Strip/Viewer. A photo strip is now located at the top of the Wall, much like the Personal Profile Page. This allows you to feature 5 photos at the top of your Page. Admins have the ability to organize these photos into designs, showcase your product/services, feature pictures of your office or an event or place coupons for customers in this area. The photo dimensions in the strip are 96px by 67px each. The photo viewer has also been enhanced, upon clicking on a photo in the strip a large display box will open with the picture, there is a place for a description located under the photo, be sure to put a link or call to action in this section. Ex: Realtors should place homes for sale in the photo strip, upon opening the photo a link to the house listing website should be in the description section.
Custom Links.** Custom Tabs have been discontinued. The Tab section was located at the top of the Wall on the Page (Notes, Photos, Discussions, etc.) and could be customized with basic information. Facebook determined changing the format for these Tabs made customizing the Business Page more elaborate. Unfortunately unless you are a developer or coder you may have trouble creating the Custom Links. There are some great tutorials out on the Internet and there are several companies you can hire to create customized links on your Business Page.
Be the Page. This is by far the most exciting change on the Facebook Business Page. Business Administrators have the capability of being the Page on Facebook. Just click on the “Use Facebook as ‘BusinessPage’” and you can now “Like” other Business Pages as your Business. If you would like to leave a comment on another Business Page or on a Personal Profile you can do so as your business. To go back to being you, just click on “Use Facebook as ‘You’” on the Business Page. This takes your Business Page’s visibility to a new level, you are not just limited to posting on your Business Page and you can really get your name out there with this new feature.
Profile Picture. No longer limited to a small square at the top left of the Page, you can now create a sidebar with as much information that you can fit into it and it will show up along the left side of the Business Page. The new profile picture dimensions should be no greater than 180px by 540px. This allows you to get not only your logo on your Page, but you can place pertinent information related to your business in this area as well.
Be sure to take advantage of these new features as they all contribute to the marketability of your Business Page on Facebook. These new features offer the potential for you to showcase much more information related to your business and if done correctly you will have a great Business Page that Friends will be able to use with ease.

**If you have Custom Tabs on your Page they are still there and visible, located on the left side of the Page, you can edit the content for now, but you cannot add new Tabs. Facebook has also announced they will eventually discontinue all Tabs, which means your Tabs will disappear. Transition to the Custom Links when you are able, Facebook has not announced when they plan to discontinue the Tabs.
