Facebook provides measurement tracking in the “Insights” section of your Business Page and every week Facebook emails the Daily Tracking for the week.  These statistics are helpful, but unless you continually track the data and not just the snapshot of the data the day you look at the statistics it really does not mean much.

There will be days when no one visits your Page, days when no one comments.

Compare it to a Yellow Pages ad in the printed book, your ad is printed and located in the section for your industry, however consumers are not looking at the Yellow Pages every day.  If there was a way to track Yellow Pages views the arrows would most likely point down for the majority of the weeks.  Consumers crack open a Yellow Pages when they need a service.  Facebook has your Business Page and all information up 24/7, post to that page weekly and your business is being seen on a weekly basis not just when someone needs what you do.  Whether or not people are clicking on your Page or Commenting on your posts, they see you and know you are there. read more

Facebook recently updated the Business Page format.  There are a few exciting new features of the Page that can help boost your Page to the next level.

Photo Strip/Viewer.  A photo strip is now located at the top of the Wall, much like the Personal Profile Page.  This allows you to feature 5 photos at the top of your Page.  Admins have the ability to organize these photos into designs, showcase your product/services, feature pictures of your office or an event or place coupons for customers in this area.  The photo dimensions in the strip are 96px by 67px each.  The photo viewer has also been enhanced, upon clicking on a photo in the strip a large display box will open with the picture, there is a place for a description located under the photo, be sure to put a link or call to action in this section.  Ex: Realtors should place homes for sale in the photo strip, upon opening the photo a link to the house listing website should be in the description section. read more

The power of social media is astounding. These days’ social media sites are not just catching up with old friends, staying in touch with family or even marketing a business. Social media sites are overthrowing governments; assisting friends and family locate loved ones during a natural disaster and raising consciousness and money for philanthropic efforts.

Who would even think a site where you “manage a farm” or “Poke” people to say “Hi” could do such profound things. But in the past couple of months Facebook has turned into THE source for all things important. read more

I have been using Social Network Marketing for a few years now.  My business has given countless talks on why to use Social Network Marketing, how to use it, when to hire someone, etc.  Occasionally we get a client who “gets it”, but unfortunately we often have clients who never quite grasp the concept.

I spend a great deal of time monitoring what works and what doesn’t.  I watch the analytics of the Facebook Page and attempt to keep Friends of the Page engaged and informed.

As a Social Network Marketer and also as a consumer I see mistakes businesses make with their strategy and understand if I am annoyed and “Unlike” a Business Page there are likely other Friends who feel the same way.  Investing time, and money, into a Social Networking campaign only to have Friends leave the Page or turn off your News Feed is an issue.  Once they are “off” they likely will not return to your Page. read more

Social Network Marketing is a whole new ballgame, the rules have changed in marketing and while the outcome is the same as traditional marketing – get customers/make a sale-pocket the money, the method has changed and the timeline has expanded.

There is a distinct difference between traditional marketing and Social Network Marketing.  Traditional marketing is a funnel – run an ad, entice the consumer, make a sale.  As illustrated below Facebook marketing ongoing, and seemingly neverending. read more
