I was at my son’s little league game in Joliet this weekend. I stopped to speak with the woman who runs the information table and noticed she was wearing a visor with a client’s name on it. I commented on her hat and she explained she had worked at this company a while ago and that the owner was a good friend of hers. I told her that our company, The Word Pro, handled the Social Media Marketing for the company.

She told me that she loved the Facebook updates, watched for them and it reminded her why she loved the company and that she needed to go there. Proof that status updates work – while this is only one person as an example it does show that Facebook Users are engaged in the Business Pages they follow and this particular Friend generates revenue for my client. read more

About 15 years ago the owner of The Word Pro, Sandy Ketcham, in Westmont, IL began designing websites for small businesses. Several businesses saw the value of having a website and knew that to stay competitive they must have a website.

However, many of the businesses at the time saw websites as a novelty and thought they were a fad and did not think they needed one.

Flash forward to today and there are almost no businesses that do not have a website. A website is basically the first stop for all start-ups. read more

I have read several articles and blogs in the past few weeks regarding Social Media Marketing and how it is basically just a fad and Social Media Marketers are not experts and really don’t understand the world of marketing.

Well, right now Social Media Marketing is hot and it is where businesses and customers are and if you are not using to market your business you really are missing out on a whole group of people who could potentially be customers.

However, it should not be the only way you market your business and if you want to market on Social Networking sites you do need an individual who knows what they are doing, so do not beware the expert.  Beware the expert who tells you Social Media is the only tool you need for marketing, beware the company that only focuses on Social Media.  Look for the company that still focuses on Marketing as a whole. read more

As Google cracks down on its algorithms for content searches and spewing forth the same data all the other counterparts in your industry throw up on the Internet, original writing is fast becoming the most desirable piece of business’ marketing mix.

Here at The Word Pro we speak to people, give presentations, and train businesses on Facebook and Social Media Marketing.  Facebook Ads were always the part of our discussion where we gave the “by the book” answer on what they were and how they worked.  We have had clients ask about doing an Ad, but no one ever jumped in and did one.

I decided to give Facebook Ads a try.  While the main hat I wear is as the Director of Social Network Marketing for my business, The Word Pro, I also have a hobby of making jewelry and sell it on the side.  As I have an autistic child I decided to always give a portion of my earnings from jewelry sales to an autism foundation and making and selling jewelry is not going to feed my family. read more
